POP CHICKEN RECIPES WITH SAMBAL (AYAM POP)

 Pop chicken is a type of fried chicken, but don't confuse it with Padang fried chicken. Because in terms of appearance alone already looks different. Pop chicken has a pale color, because it is only fried briefly. However, the meat itself has a distinctive taste because it has been cooked with coconut water, garlic, and other spices.

Ingredients:

  • 1 rooster/village
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cm galangal, bruised
  • 400 ml coconut water
  • 500 grams of cooking oil
  • Ground spices:
  • 6 red onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Sambal Ingredients:

  • 6 red chilies
  • 5 red onions
  • 1 tomato
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 200 ml water

How to Make Pop Chicken:

  1. Wash the chicken, then cut it into 4 parts. Also remove the skin.
  2. Boil chicken with ground spices, bay leaf, galangal, lime juice, and coconut water until absorbed. After that lift and drain the water.
  3. Heat cooking oil in large quantities. Then fry the chicken for a while. Do not let the color turn brown.
  4. Lastly, make the sambal. Boil all chili ingredients, except salt and sugar until cooked. After that puree with salt and sugar.
