KLEPON RECIPES (INDONESIAN DESSERT)

 This dessert process is quite simple, does not require ingredients that are difficult to obtain and the process is quite fast.

There is a sensation of brown sugar explosion when the klepon is bitten. It doesn't take long to make klepon, just take 30 minutes to make this traditional Indonesian snack.

Ingredients: 

  • 200 grams of white glutinous rice flour 
  • 25 grams of sago flour 
  • 1 teaspoon of whiting water 
  • 175 ml of warm coconut milk (from 1/4 coconut) 
  • 25 ml of suji water (from 10 suji leaves and 1 pandan leaf) 
  • 80 grams of brown sugar, finely chopped for stuffing

Sprinkling Ingredients: 

  • 150 grams of coarsely grated coconut 
  • 2 pandan leaves 
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to make klepon:
  1. Process the coconut sprinkles first, by mixing the ingredients evenly and then steaming over medium heat for 20 minutes until cooked.
  2. While waiting for the ripe coconut sprinkles, make klepon by mixing glutinous rice flour, sago flour, and whiting water.
  3. Enter the warm coconut milk little by little, then add a little suji leaf water and stir until the dough is smooth.
  4. If the dough is already smooth, take a little then flatten. Put the chopped brown sugar and roll the dough to make it round.
  5. Boil the dough that has been formed in boiling hot water. If it floats, it means the cake is ready. Remove and set aside.
  6. Roll the cake that is still warm in a sprinkling of coconut. Klepon is ready to be enjoyed.
